Artistic Statement

Home Grown Theatre is committed to providing excellent live theatrical and musical performances to our South-of-Houston community. We are a group of amateurs, professionals, and community members who had the good fortune to work together on some outstanding, award-winning high school shows in our area. And what do you have after you've been doing great high school performances for a few years? You have a lot of local talent and skills!
 
We were inspired by the excitement of collaborating on these great shows. We were inspired to see our high schoolers work hard and develop their talents. We were inspired by the enthusiasm of the audiences. We were inspired by the great relationships we saw developing in our community around these shows.
 
There's no getting around that a great show is exciting. So many people collaborate to make it happen. You need directors, performers, managers, designers, builders, painters, and crew, you need business and support staff, you need sponsors, and, of course, you need the audience. Getting it right requires attention to a ton of details. Everybody's part matters.
 
And we want our everybody to expand. Our inspiration is local, but we intend to become a magnet for artists and patrons from all over the Houston area, and further. We welcome anyone who shares our passion for excellent performance.
 
Performing arts can entertain, they can teach, and they can build relationships. We aim to do all three.
